Our mission
Inspired by the principle of “Training for Leadership,” Guide Right exists to place the experience, wisdom, and mentorship of accomplished men at the disposal of young people seeking direction and opportunity. The program encourages academic excellence, personal growth, civic responsibility, and leadership development while helping participants navigate the challenges and opportunities that shape their future.
By fostering meaningful relationships between mentors, students, families, schools, and community partners, Guide Right empowers participants to become ethical leaders and engaged citizens.
A Legacy of Leadership
Conceived in 1922 by Brother Leon W. Stewart of the St. Louis Alumni Chapter, Guide Right was adopted as Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity’s national service initiative to help young men identify educational and career pathways aligned with their talents and aspirations. Since its inception, the program has impacted generations of students through scholarships, mentoring, tutoring, and leadership development opportunities.
Today, Guide Right continues that legacy by preparing young people to thrive in an ever-changing world while remaining grounded in the values of service, achievement, and integrity.
kappa league
Under the chairmanship of Mel Davis, the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter’s Social Action Program introduced a leadership development initiative for young men attending Alain Leroy Locke High School. Known as the Kappa Instructional Leadership League, the program was created to help students discover, cultivate, and strengthen their leadership abilities in every aspect of life.
Designed to provide both challenging and rewarding experiences, Kappa League encouraged young men to pursue meaningful goals, develop strong character, and prepare for future leadership roles within their schools and communities. Originally open to male students in grades ten through twelve, the program established a foundation that continues to shape young leaders across the nation today.
The Fayetteville Metro Kappa Foundation’s Kappa League and Guide Right program serves young men in grades 6–12 and meets on the third Sunday of each month. Through mentorship, leadership training, and community engagement, participants are equipped with the skills and experiences necessary to excel academically, socially, and professionally.

Meet Our guide right leader
Brandon Billings
Guide Right Chairman
Brandon Billings is a higher education professional, educational leader, and youth development advocate dedicated to helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. A graduate of Fayetteville State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in General Music, Brandon also holds a Master of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Liberty University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at NC State University. Through his leadership of Kappa League, he has expanded opportunities for young men in leadership development, college readiness, community service, and personal growth.
